'Autumn' is a Winner!

On Monday after school this week, my little girl and I made this rosette for her dolly that she calls 'Autumn'... the dolly is actually mine from when I was a little girl, with her original dress... pretty vintage! I love it that it she is now one of my daughters favourites!

We decided to make the rosette because some of the characters in one of her stories had  made rosettes to replace the lost medals (in the story!) - I get so many of my creative ideas from children's story books!

We made this out of scrap pieces of fabric (again, up-cycling!) cut into circles of decreasing sizes, with a felt circle for the back, and a button for the middle and some left-over ribbon from my market-stall crafting. We used copydex to stick it all together - this was so that my daughter could do it, but a stitch or two would also be enough and avoid the yellow glue patch showing through some of the fabric (which doesn't bother my daughter or me!)....we then glued a little brooch pin to the back - again, I would stitch this if doing it myself as it would look a little tidier.

But the overall effect is so lovely, I love how colourful, vibrant and effective such a simple craft has turned out and I think I will add a few to my stock - you never know, there might be a few more little girls' (or boys!) dollies, stuffed animals or bears awaiting and deserving their prize as best loved toy!!
