Happy Halloween from this little Autumn Fire Fairy...

It's been half term here so not much time for blogging and creative work of my own. This time last year, I was so busy preparing for a market, that I consciously made the decision this year to be more present with the children, so I've been enjoying my time with them, doing the things they enjoy and following their lead wherever it felt right - but I did make this little Fire Fairy in the early mornings.

She's not very spooky, but she's full of fire and wild heart! It is a family tradition for us to light a garden fire around the time of trick-or-treating and the clocks changing. It is to mark the coming of the dark season, and for me, it's a time of consciously letting go of all from the year that no longer serves, and celebrating all that does, and welcoming in the new things to come.

As a family, we all enjoy this time. It is heart warming. ALIVE. Whilst the natural world around us begins to fall to sleep, we keep the light of the fire alive inside of us as we begin to enter the Winter deep. It is a tradition and a ritual, and one that I hope the children will always remember fondly as they grow.

Sometimes we write our small happinesses and wishes onto pieces of paper and cast them into the fire... a kind of intention setting, making quietly conscious all the things we are grateful for. And we do it gently. The children come and go, sometimes they join in. sometimes they are just playing and enjoying the atmosphere. All is perfect... we eat roast potatoes, chestnuts, and sometimes pumpkin soup...  it is a beautiful time.

So this little Fire Fairy is here as a guardian of our festivities at this highly Spirited time of year... warmth, heart, fun, aliveness, spirit... tonight will be the night that we hold our fire this year, and we are all very excited! It's all part of a very Happy Halloween! ♥ ♥
